The Delano Area Council for Arts and Culture came together in spring 2009 to “empower people to think, work and live creatively through art and cultural experiences.”
The Arts Council supports local artists and enhances the culture of the Delano area community.
The City of Delano and the Arts Council established the Highway 12 Sculpture Park and in May 2017 The community was engaged in planning, fund raising and publicizing the labyrinth. The Council is actively looking for local artists to submit proposals for additional sculptures.
The Arts Council communicates, connects and collaborates with various local groups and individuals to bring the arts to local residents. With the co-operation of local artists, the Council has sponsored interactive Art Jams for all ages in the community. A sidewalk chalk art contest was organized and staffed by Arts Council members at Delano’s Fourth of July Family Day and this will become an annual activity.
Is a fiscal agent for local artists and art events in the community
Was the driving force in having the Delano City Council adopt a Public Art Policy.
Continuing to participate in community arts policy writing and planning.
Continuing to pursue art for the Sculpture Garden. Helping with procuring funding for artists and their installations in the park on Hwy. 12.
Organize community organizations and businesses bring an annual event to promote
local artists and musician and performers to Delano downtown.
Organize a community sidewalk art event during the 4th of July celebrations by the
carnival.
