About the Mosaic Mural

We received funding for this project from the Initiative Foundation in honor of Delano's 150th Anniversary in 2026.

Past and present members of our community create a tile by drawing an image of their choice using sharpie markers. We then photograph the tiles and use the images to as part of the mosaic. Each individual artist gets to keep their own physical tile. You can make the sharpie permanent by baking the tiles in a 350 degree oven for half an hour.

Leanna is a local artist who will be painting four pieces that will be recreated using the photographed tiles collected from 2024 to 2026.

The final mosaic creations will be displayed on a retaining wall in the Sculpture Garden - located across from Peppermint Twist on Highway 12.
